Jayride Teams Up with Dunedin City Council in Carpooling Initiative

Jayride, one of New Zealand’s fastest growing car pooling initiatives has just announced it has teamed up with the Dunedin City Council to promote carpooling for the city, starting with Otago Polytechnic and Otago University.

This is a fantastic start to what we hope is a growing trend amongst city councils nationwide and even better, worldwide.

Carpooling, for those of you who aren’t up with the play, is a way to get from A to B fast and hassle free. At the same time you are also doing your bit to save the environment by lowering the number of vehicles on our roads.

Jayride lists all sorts of vehicles such as Transfercar’s free to drive rental vehicles which relocate between major cities nationwide, busses and private vehicles that need to get from A to B and want to share the cost of the journey.

What are the benefits:

  • Less cars on the road (goes without saying why this is a benefit)
  • Shared petrol costs
  • Great company
  • Faster (as you get to use the carpooling lanes)

So spread the word people, this is the new way to get around!

Travelling from Christchurch to Queenstown: What are my options?

Like any great travel story, you can get a varying array of travel times and distance options between locations. This journey is no different! Depending on the route you choose to take travelling between Queenstown and Christchurch can take you anything from 3 – 6 hours and can be 320 to 480 kms (or more).

Whichever way you choose to go, you won’t be disappointed.

From the flat rolling hills of the East Coast to the craggy wilds of the high country, this is a stunning journey best taken at a slow and leisurely pace. Don’t be fooled by the short distance though.  New Zealand roads can be winding and at time dangerous, so keep your foot steady and your eyes on the road! TripAdvisor’ hand smacked over claims of 100% genuine reviews

The well known global travel website TripAdvisor has been given a shake up by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) due to claims of reviews being “Reviews you can trust”, “read reviews from real travellers” and “More than 50 million honest travel reviews and opinions from real travellers around the world”.

A number of complaints have been made from website users claiming that TripAdvisor use misleading statements which claim they could be certain of the reviews however it was understood that TripAdvisor did not verify reviews and therefore could not prove they were from genuine real travellers, according to news.com.au

TripAdvisor has responded by assuring users of the service that they use a highly effective, advanced fraud detection system and dedicated resources to minimize any non-genuine content, however it was not practical to screen each review manually.

TripAdvisor have now been strongly advised  not to claim or imply that all the reviews that appeared on the website were from real travellers, or were honest, real or trusted.
