Londoners get a taste of Air New Zealand’s “Cuddle Class”

Londoners were invited to test the new Economy Skycouch, first launched on Air New Zealand’s daily B777-300 Auckland – Los Angeles – London service in 2011.

Set up in the back of a stylish, black and clear sided truck, the Skycouch road show allowed Londoners to experience first-hand what the award-winning seating looked and felt like.

The Skycouch, affectionately known as “Cuddle Class”, is a specially designed row of three seats that creates a flat, flexible space providing a generous surface for children to play or for adults to rest and relax.

This has redefined the long haul experience that has put many families off travelling, due to the cramped and non-child friendly seating situation in economy class seating.

The Skycouch truck travelled across London until Friday 24 May distributing cuddles and giveaways.

Fun things to do when camping in the rain

Camping in the rainAs winter creeps up on us, the sun shines a little less and the rain falls a little more. This is fine if you are snuggled up in a nice warm house, but what if you’re camping or in a campervan or motorhome? Not always so much fun, especially with children on board. You can stay warm on cold camping trips with the right portable heater.

It’s not all that bad though, especially if you have a few winter ideas up your sleeve and some extra coins in your pocket from the savings of travelling in a free rental: Continue reading Fun things to do when camping in the rain

Food for camping: Quick and easy cashew nut cups

Melted chocolateI’ve recently come back from a well needed stay at a Yoga retreat in Koh Samui, Thailand (Samahita Retreat) where we trained in Ashtanga Yoga twice a day.  As you can imagine, the food was delicious, organic and highly nutritious. However with all that training, my craving for something sweet was almost overpowering (and there is only so much honey you can put in a herbal tea!).

Amongst some of the incredibly mouth watering desserts available was a little beauty called a Cashew Nut Cup. Now why is this a good addition to Transfercar’s travel  blog you ask? The reason being, that  this can be easily made on a gas stove, over hot coals or on a BBQ, making it a fantastic travel treat that is cheap and easy to prepare. Check this out yourself. New Zealand Car Rental Companies Must Now Prove Damages

Rental agreementsTara Ewing, a New Zealand resident, has won her case for the reimbursement of $280, charged to her by a local rental company for claimed damages to the rental vehicle.

The disputes tribunal ruled that the car rental company lacked evidence of a pre-rental inspection.

Apparently the person who picked up the rental testified that he had to walk down the street to get the vehicle, and no inspection with an employee took place. No itemized invoice, photos — before or after — or other documentation of the damage was available from the car rental company.

This is a wakeup call for both rental companies and potential customers who may find themselves in this situation if careful inspection of both vehicles and small print do not take place.

Transfercar has seen this issued once before involving one of their free rental deals. In light of this recent event, Transfercar urges all parties to be diligent with their dealings and to make sure that all the correct documentation is provided as we wish to see all of our customers and suppliers satisfied with their arrangements.
